Pamela Geiger
Oil paintings
Plein air artist, Pamela Geiger, has been painting oil's of Saint Augustine for several decades. Her artistic education is typical--she studied later to become a radiographer in order to earn a living. Throughout her career, she continued to draw consistently. She poured over art books from the library and went to workshops and paint-outs to further her art education. Geiger joined the Plein Air Painters of Saint Augustine, PAPSA, which enabled her to paint with some great Saint Augustine artists all over town and the county.
"Mesmerized by the beauty in nature, I paint in oils, with the aim of recording for the future the raw beauty of our country, mostly Florida where I live and love the tropical foliage. History, though, has left its mark through buildings and other things man made. So lovely and impressive, these, too, are temporary and among my favorites to paint. Sometimes it seems these cypress bogs, oak hammocks, marshes, and wild oat-covered dunes--which for eons have been home to the critters--will not survive the onslaught of man. I will at least record them on my canvasses."
